The Best of the Best from E-Lux

The latest update from E-Lux electric bikes improves on the already reliable platforms of the E-Lux Tahoe and E-Lux Malibu. We just reviewed the Malibu, which is the same platform as the Malibu Stepthru, but with an 18” step-through tube. Be sure to check in later for our reviews of the Tahoe and Tahoe GT. E-Lux Malibu Review HERE

“The E-Lux Malibu GT is the second model in our Flagship Line blending the best E-Lux has to offer in Luxury, Power, Speed, and Range with contemporary lines, a battery forward design, and an ultra-comfortable upright riding position we’re famous for bringing you ‘Miles of Smiles’ as you blast down the path!”

E-Lux Electric Bikes

Kind of like a sports car, adding a “GT” badge usually means that you’re looking at the top of the line performance model. With the new Malibu GT, that is precisely what you’re getting. The most visible change to the Malibu is probably the seat post, but the most visceral is hidden “under the hood.”

Flagship Line vs. Cruiser / Commuter Line

What’s the best way to make a bike more comfortable? Well, there are a few ways, but they are typically pretty costly. The most efficient way is to take away excess road chatter from the rear by adding a Suntour NCX Suspension Seat Post. With 48mm of travel, your body will thank you later for the nonexistent vibrations. If you desire a softer or firmer suspension, Suntour also makes soft and hard springs to swap out with the stock, medium spring. It’s the best physical change about the bike, and with the addition of a new Serfas gel saddle, your rides will be that much more comfortable.

Bigger Motor! Bigger Battery! More Fun!

There’s a new standard with e-bikes, and it’s all about speed! The most notable improvement on the Malibu GT is the 48 Volt 750 Watt (1375 Peak Watt) Dapu Motor. It’s pushing 250+ Watts more than the original, and it will propel you all the way to 28mph! This bike was already fast. Now, it’s a rocket! Consider it your “Super Commuter.” Fast, efficient, and designed around your comfort! To make sure you’ll be flying all day, the 48V 21ah battery that was optional on the Malibu comes stock on the Malibu GT.

A couple of other differences to the GT are upgraded tires and brakes. They’ve fitted 2.125” Schwalbe Big Ben Tires with Double Layer Nylon Fabric Puncture Protection. These are highly rated tires for touring and city riding. The previous E-Lux Malibu has dual piston Tektro Auriga brakes while the Malibu GT has Tektro Dorado 4 piston Hydraulic Brakes explicitly designed for electric bike use. More speed? Check! Even better brakes? Check!

Is It That Much Better?

Many of the features have stayed the same, like the Bigstone C600E-USB 3.5” Backlit LCD Display, and Zoom front suspension. However, you’re probably going to buy this bike for that powerful motor, big battery, and comfy, suspension seat post. It makes a world of difference! So, if you’re wondering about the price bump from $2295 to $2995 being worth it, it shouldn’t even be a question. Other electric bikes with similar features and performance can run you thousands of dollars more.

The Bike Shop California team is genuinely pleased with the addition of the upgraded GT models in the E-Lux Flagship Line. They’ve improved e-bikes that were already great, to begin with. Pre-Order your E-Lux Malibu GT and Malibu Stepthru GT today and be one of the first people to own a piece of the NEW Flagship Line.

Pros

  • The larger 750 Watt motor will get you to and from your destination much faster than any regular bike could.
  • That NCX Suspension Seat Post really does make a big difference in the overall ride comfort.

Cons

  • Like the original Malibu/Malibu Stepthru, the bike is a bit heavy (around 60 pounds,) so try to find a safe spot to park and charge it.
  • The Malibu GT is so fast you may not want to ride any other bike!
